{"id":429,"date":"2011-06-20T23:34:31","date_gmt":"2011-06-20T23:34:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/writersroom.ca\/socrates\/?p=429"},"modified":"2014-12-08T13:58:08","modified_gmt":"2014-12-08T21:58:08","slug":"lessons-in-sound-lesson-2-havin-fun-on-set","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/writersroom.ca\/socrates\/2011\/06\/20\/lessons-in-sound-lesson-2-havin-fun-on-set\/","title":{"rendered":"Lessons in Sound \u2013 Lesson 2: Havin Fun (On Set)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This second lesson is a little less about sound and a lot more about constructive attitudes on the set of a film.<\/p>\n<p>A long day on set can really test everyone&#8217;s patience and thus it is very important to take time to let off some steam and have fun.<\/p>\n<p>No matter how tight your schedule is, there is guaranteed to be at least a little down time.\u00a0 For example, shown in the video below, we had a short break while waiting for our RED camera memory card to be backed up (and cleared) in order to continue filming.\u00a0 Obviously we didn&#8217;t break into song and dance every time we had to wait for storage media (which happened a few times), there are often odd jobs\/equipment checks\/etc to be done, but every once in a while when the pressure\/tension became a little too much we all found ways to open the valve and let some steam out.<\/p>\n<p>Other ways to let off steam:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tasteful Jokes<\/li>\n<li>Eating Snacks\/Drinking Coffee<\/li>\n<li>Conversing About Family (Good or Bad)<\/li>\n<li>Calisthenics<\/li>\n<li>Brainstorming New Artistic Projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Obviously, this list can go on and on.<\/p>\n<p>Long story short, long days on set are going to get tough but if you take some time out of your day to have a little fun, especially useful as bonding exercises with crew mates, and to blow off a little steam.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/vimeo.com\/25366907\">Lesson 2 &#8211; Havin&#8217; Fun (On Set)<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This second lesson is a little less about sound and a lot more about constructive attitudes on the set of a film.
